Hound Tor, Dartmoor
A ten-year-old child became trapped under a rock on Hound Tor whilst moving down between rocks on Dartmoor. Despite initial rescue efforts by her group leaders and the local mountain rescue team, specialist intervention from Devon Cave Rescue and multiple emergency services was required to free her leg using lubricants. The child remained uninjured and was able to walk away after approximately four hours of being trapped.
Outcome: child freed after four hours, walked away uninjured following assessment
