false alarm - welfare concern Southern Uplands

North Berwick Law

Emergency services conducted a night-time search of North Berwick Law after reports of a concerning light around 6:20pm on 7 January. The multi-agency operation, involving Police Scotland, Scottish Ambulance Service, Coastguard teams, and a rescue helicopter with thermal imaging, found no missing or injured persons. The incident was classified as a false call with good intent, with further enquiries suggesting a runner was in the area at the time.

Outcome: no persons found, operation stood down
