cragfast walker and hypothermia Lake District
Blencathra (Atkinson Pike) and Helvellyn range
Three walkers were rescued in two separate incidents in the Lake District on 20 December after becoming caught out by bad weather. A 39-year-old woman became cragfast on Blencathra near Atkinson Pike, unprepared for strong winds; she was found and safely descended. Shortly after, two 24-year-old women on the Helvellyn range reported one suffering from hypothermia and were located and escorted to safety.
Outcome: both casualties safely descended and escorted to accommodation
