Black Hill, Pennine Way
A runner competing in the Spine Race sustained a lower leg injury while ascending Black Hill on the Pennine Way. Oldham, Woodhead and Holme Valley Mountain Rescue Teams combined to locate, assess and stretcher the casualty 2.3 miles to an off-road ambulance, where he was transferred to North West Ambulance Service for hospital treatment.
Outcome: casualty evacuated by stretcher to hospital
