A University of Bristol student died after falling approximately 500 feet while climbing the ledge route on Ben Nevis on New Year's Day. The incident occurred in icy conditions; three companions were safely evacuated by helicopter after becoming stranded, and the casualty was recovered by Lochaber Mountain Rescue Team.
