Avon & Somerset SAR

A despondent male was reported missing near Bridgwater. Avon and Somerset Police contacted the team, and the casualty was located by Exmoor Search and Rescue Team and the responding team.

Avon and Somerset Police requested support in the search for a high-risk missing male in the Chapmanslade area. The missing person returned to a place of safety before the team completed deployment.

West Lakes Mountain Rescue provided water-trained members and search operatives to assist Windermere Independent Search and Rescue (WILSAR) in the search for a high-risk missing person. The team was stood down while investigations continued.

A runner at the Top of the Gorge adventure festival on the Mendip Hills sustained a lower leg injury and was unable to bear weight. The team assisted the event paramedic and evacuated the casualty by stretcher to a road ambulance from the difficult, steep terrain.

A vulnerable male missing in the Middlezoy area of Somerset was located by a police dog handler in the early hours of 10 June 2026. ASSAR members provided pre-hospital care and the casualty was airlifted by Maritime Coastguard Search and Rescue helicopter to a nearby cricket pitch for handover to South Western Ambulance Service.

A vulnerable elderly female was reported missing near Stoke sub Hamdon in South Somerset. Search and rescue teams located her, and she received treatment at the scene before being handed to the South Western Ambulance Service.

The team was called out to assist Avon and Somerset Police with a search for a high-risk missing person in the Aust area of South Gloucestershire. Following searches conducted alongside police officers and the coastguard, no one was located, and operations were stood down pending further investigation.

Team members were called out in the early evening to assist an individual with a lower leg injury above Jacob's Ladder in Cheddar Gorge. They provided pain relief and secured the injured area before safely moving the person down to the roadside for handover to paramedics.

The team was contacted regarding a missing person in the Portishead area by the police. Following discussions, it was determined that the coastguard were best placed to lead the search efforts.

Support was requested for a missing male near Castle Combe. Team members from ASSAR attended the scene and were involved in the search efforts. The individual was subsequently found safe by the search teams.

The team was contacted by the police to conduct a search for a missing young person near Taunton. The operation was successfully concluded.

The team was requested to assist with an ongoing search operation in Dorset. Although they were unable to provide personnel for the callout, they were pleased to learn that the situation had been successfully resolved.

The team was called out at dawn to assist with a missing vulnerable male from Weston-super-Mare. Police later confirmed that a member of the public had located the man safely and well.
