Red Screes, Kirkstone Pass

overdue fellrunner Lake District

A male fellrunner attempting the Joss Naylor route in reverse was reported overdue with tracker contact lost. A team member with a drone attended Kirkstone Pass and located the runner on the skyline; he was uninjured but had become slightly off-route during darkness. The runner returned home without requiring evacuation.

Outcome: located safe and well, returned home uninjured

Loughrigg

A male walker sustained an ankle injury on Loughrigg and was treated by the team. He was evacuated by stretcher, with the incident taking 1.5 hours to resolve.

Outcome: casualty treated and evacuated

Bad Step, Crinkle Crags

injured walker Lake District Serious incident

A male fellwalker slipped and fell approximately 3 metres at Bad Step on Crinkle Crags, sustaining a head injury and suspected femur fracture. He was treated by the team and evacuated by helicopter to Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle.

Outcome: casualty evacuated by helicopter to Cumberland Infirmary, Carlisle

Stickle Ghyll

A woman sustained a fractured arm after slipping at Stickle Ghyll. Her injury was stabilised with a splint and she was assisted down the fell. Kendal Mountain Rescue Team were called but stood down when it became clear the casualty could walk unaided.

Outcome: casualty assisted down with arm splinted

Loughrigg

An overseas family of three became lost on Loughrigg and were unable to find a way down. Team members who were diverted from a previous rescue located them and guided them safely down the fell.

Outcome: guided down safely

Hart Crag

lost walkers Lake District

A couple reported themselves lost on Hart Crag. The team located them using SARLOC and provided remote guidance to help them descend safely, monitoring their progress until they were off the hill.

Outcome: guided off hill safely

Low Millerground

injured walker Lake District

An elderly male slipped and fell down a steep bank at Low Millerground, sustaining a leg injury. An ambulance attended the scene and requested mountain rescue assistance to extract him. The incident lasted 1.5 hours and required 12 team members.

Outcome: casualty extracted with ambulance assistance

Loughrigg

heat-related illness Lake District

A teenage female was reported fitting and unresponsive on Loughrigg. The team found her suffering from heat-related illness, treated her, and escorted her from the hill.

Outcome: casualty treated and escorted from the hill

Hell Ghyll

heat-related medical emergency Lake District

A young woman reported as suffering from heat-related problems at Hell Ghyll was treated and evacuated by the team. The rescue took 2.5 hours with 17 team members involved.

Outcome: casualty treated and evacuated

The Band

An elderly male walker on The Band suffered from likely heat-related illness and was assisted down by a Scottish Mountain Rescue team member. The Lakeland team located and further escorted him to the valley, where he was handed to family members.

Outcome: casualty escorted to valley and handed to family

Low Pike

A young woman sustained a lower leg injury after slipping into a hole while fell walking on Low Pike. She was treated by team members and evacuated by stretcher.

Outcome: casualty evacuated by stretcher

Rydal Water, Staps End

A male was reported in distress in water at Rydal Water on 4 July 2026. The team responded but was stood down after being informed that the man had exited the water and was in the care of police officers.

Outcome: casualty out of water and in police care

Pavey Ark

Lost/Disorientation Lake District

A young female camper reported feeling cold and unsure how to navigate her way down from Pavey Ark. She was successfully located using SARLOC equipment and subsequently guided safely down by team members.

Outcome: Safe exit

Dunney Beck

Two young male walkers became unable to find a descent from the fell and called for help. The team deployed a drone to search the area but the casualties managed to descend unaided before ground teams made contact.

Outcome: walked off unaided

Jack's Rake

cragfast climber Lake District

A male became cragfast on Jack's Rake but resolved the situation independently before the team could organise a rescue. The incident lasted approximately 30 minutes and required four team members to respond.

Outcome: casualty self-rescued

Blea Rigg

injured walker Lake District

A female fellwalker fell backwards on Blea Rigg and sustained a wrist injury. With assistance from team members and support from Kendal Mountain Rescue Team, she was able to walk down the fell.

Outcome: casualty walked down with assistance

Angle Tarn

A camper at Angle Tarn became unwell and called for assistance. The team located and assisted the casualty off the hill in an operation lasting 8.5 hours.

Outcome: casualty assisted from the hill

Raise Back

tired walker Lake District

A fellwalker who was struggling and tired activated his emergency tracker on Raise Back. The team located and recovered him, escorting him from the hill after a three-hour callout involving seven members.

Outcome: recovered and escorted from the hill

Pavey Ark

Ankle Injury (Fellwalking) Lake District

A male sustained an ankle injury while fellwalking at Pavey Ark. Team members provided treatment before the individual was evacuated with assistance from Kendal MRT.

Outcome: Evacuated

Gibson Knott

Fracture/Injury Lake District

A solo female walker sustained a wrist fracture while fellwalking on Gibson Knott. The rescue team attended to her at the location and subsequently arranged for her evacuation.

Outcome: Evacuated after treatment
