Rossendale & Pendle MRT

The team responded to four separate callouts in late September. These included an injured cyclist on Hameldon Hill (self-evacuated), a farmer with a serious leg injury in Foulridge (extracted by ambulance), a COPD patient evacuation from a farm in Roughlee (stood down), and a woodland casualty evacuation in Accrington using a rope system.

Outcome: biker self-evacuated to hospital, farmer extracted by ambulance, COPD patient stood down, woodland casualty evacuated via rope system and AWD ambulance

A fly fisherman fell on stones at Swinden Reservoir and sustained a lower leg injury. The team assisted North West Ambulance Service by evacuating the casualty by stretcher to their vehicle.

Outcome: casualty evacuated by stretcher

The team responded to three callouts over the weekend. Callout #26 involved reports of an unwell person on Scout Moor, but utility workers had already assisted the casualty to an ambulance before arrival. Callout #27 was a multi-agency incident near the Aspinall Arms involving police, fire, ambulance and air ambulance services. Callout #28 involved a casualty who suffered a seizure on Pendle Hill and was stretchered down to an ambulance.

A woman with a suspected hip injury from a fall in Barnoldswick was assisted by the team working alongside Northwest Ambulance Service. The casualty was carefully extricated using a stretcher and evacuated to an ambulance for transport.

Three callouts were attended during mid-to-late June and early July. Callout 22 near Barrowford was stood down, callout 23 involved a stretcher carry for an ankle injury near Rawtenstall, and callout 24 saw a mountain biker evacuated from Lee Mill Quarry.

Outcome: casualty evacuated by stretcher; casualty splinted and extracted to ambulance

The team received two calls from North West Ambulance Service on 7 June. Both incidents were located outside the team's area and were handled by neighbouring teams (Oldham and Bolton), though one team member assisted at the first location where a casualty was being transferred to the air ambulance.

Outcome: casualty assisted to air ambulance

The team was called out to assist near Bull Hill when a walker was reported to have lost consciousness on the hillside. After initial assessment, the casualty was met at a nearby farm and subsequently transported safely back to their vehicles.

Outcome: Good outcome; casualty safely transported off the hill.

The team responded to several calls over the past few weeks, including an initial call regarding people in the water which was later confirmed as a hoax. They also attended to a medical casualty near the Nick of Pendle and assisted with the evacuation of another individual with a serious lower leg injury at a motocross event.

Outcome: Casualty assessed and evacuated; support required for access.
