Tandle Hill country park

Oldham Mountain Rescue Team assisted North West Ambulance Service in rescuing an elderly woman who had collapsed near the trig point at Tandle Hill country park on Sunday lunchtime. The team placed her on a stretcher and transported her to the waiting ambulance. Thirteen team members were involved in the operation, which lasted two hours.

Outcome: casualty transferred to ambulance

A mountain bike rider sustained a leg injury at an old quarry near Galashiels after an accident on off-road trails. Tweed Valley Mountain Rescue attended to support the Scottish Ambulance Service, and the casualty was treated and evacuated by 5:50pm.

Dinorwig, Eryri (Snowdonia)

A walker suffered a head injury in a fall in the Dinorwig area of Eryri and was airlifted by air ambulance to Royal Stoke University Hospital. The casualty was attended by mountain rescue, a Coastguard rescue helicopter, and ambulance services. The incident occurred shortly before 1.50pm.

A climber sustained multiple severe injuries following a fall in the Sword of Gideon area near Bealach na Bà on 15 July. Torridon Mountain Rescue Team conducted a technical stretcher rescue involving a 200m lower, assisted by Coastguard helicopter R151. The casualty was evacuated to hospital.

heat exhaustion collapse during ultramarathon Lake District Serious incident

A runner collapsed from heat exhaustion during a 55-mile mountain race in Grisedale Valley. He was airlifted by coastguard helicopter and evacuated to hospital after initial assessment by the mountain rescue team. The rescue involved Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team and took approximately two and a half hours.

Outcome: airlifted by coastguard helicopter and transferred to hospital for further checks

A walker fell on the approach to Warnscale Bothy and sustained a broken lower leg. Cockermouth Mountain Rescue Team located the casualty, provided first aid, and stretchered them to Honister Mine car park where an ambulance was waiting for transport to hospital.

Llanberis Mountain Rescue Team responded to 44 callouts in June, with the Watkin Path on Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) accounting for the highest number of rescues. A tragic incident during the month involved two sisters who drowned in one of the waterfall pools on the path; other callouts included walkers becoming lost and stranded in bad weather due to inadequate preparation and unsuitable clothing.

A group of walkers discovered an unresponsive person on the summit of Kirk Fell on Sunday afternoon. Cockermouth Mountain Rescue Team was called out and confirmed the person was deceased upon arrival. The casualty was recovered and transported from the fell.

A man slipped and fractured his lower leg near Cowbury Reservoir in Carrbrook on the evening of 30 June. Oldham Mountain Rescue Team assisted North West Ambulance Service paramedics by applying a vacuum splint and evacuating the casualty by stretcher to an awaiting ambulance.

Kirk Fell

Walkers discovered a person unresponsive on the summit of Kirk Fell on 29 June. Cockermouth Mountain Rescue Team attended and confirmed the individual was deceased. The casualty was packaged and transported from the fell to the team's vehicles.

Rocky Mountain, The Mournes

A walker sustained head and facial injuries after a fall on Rocky Mountain in The Mournes on 28 June. Other walkers provided first aid and assisted the casualty to Spence's River Valley, where Mourne Mountain Rescue Team met them and transported them to the roadside by off-road vehicle for onward hospital treatment.

Langdale Ambleside Mountain Rescue Team responded to four callouts over 24 hours, predominantly involving Duke of Edinburgh Award student groups who became lost, wet, or unable to communicate while camping in the Lake District. All groups were located and safely escorted back to lower ground or their intended campsites with no serious injuries reported.

Tinto Hill, Grey Mare’s Tail

Medical emergency/Fall Southern Uplands

Moffat Mountain Rescue attended two separate callouts over a weekend. On Saturday, assistance was provided to a walker with breathing difficulties on Tinto Hill, who was subsequently evacuated by the Scottish Ambulance Service. Later that weekend, the team assisted at Grey Mare's Tail following an incident where a hillwalker sustained head and hand injuries; the casualty was safely walked off the path before being transferred to hospital.

River Tees in Gainford

Water Rescue/Concern for Life at River North East Serious incident

Emergency services were called to Gainford on Friday afternoon following concerns for a man who had entered the River Tees. A major response was mounted involving air ambulance, police helicopter, mountain rescue, paramedics, and fire crews.

An elderly man sustained an ankle injury during a walk from Rough Tor to Davidstow on Bodmin Moor. Eleven volunteers from East Cornwall Search and Rescue Team located him and transported him by stretcher to waiting paramedics at the roadside.

Missing Person South West

A man reported missing from the Polruan area was located safe following an extensive two-day search involving multiple agencies. The search efforts concluded with confirmation that the individual had been found and was receiving care.

M48 Severn Bridge

Two people were rescued after their catamaran capsized near the M48 Severn Bridge on 15 June. A nearby vessel answered a mayday call and recovered both individuals from the water. Emergency services attended and escorted the re-righted vessel to safety; no medical assistance was required.

A person suffered a head injury after a fall at Cwm Gwdi in the Brecon Beacons and was airlifted to hospital by Wales Air Ambulance. Brecon and Central Beacons Mountain Rescue Teams attended alongside Welsh Ambulance Service and provided medical care at the scene.

A 23-year-old woman died after falling into water at Rogie Falls near Garve on Saturday, 14 June. Dundonnell Mountain Rescue Team attended as part of a large multiagency response including emergency services. Police found no suspicious circumstances.

Scarth Gap, Haystacks

A walker sustained significant chest and back injuries after a fall whilst descending Haystacks on Scarth Gap on Friday, 13 June. Cockermouth Mountain Rescue Team and the Coastguard attended, stabilised the casualty, and evacuated them by helicopter to hospital.
