A participant in the annual Goatfell Hill Race took unwell during the event on Saturday, 17 May. Arran Mountain Rescue Team, who were marshalling the race, assisted the casualty and evacuated them from the hillside by all-terrain vehicle before transferring them to ambulance for transport to hospital.

Oldham Mountain Rescue Team responded to three incidents over the weekend. On Saturday, a teenage boy was evacuated by helicopter after falling from his mountain bike at Ogden Reservoir with injuries to his hip, ribs and arm. On Sunday, the team assisted a female walker with a locked knee at Ashway Gap and simultaneously responded to a walker with an ankle injury in Birchen Clough, with support from Holme Valley Mountain Rescue.

A woman sustained an injury after a fall on Dumyat Hill near Stirling on the evening of 14 May 2025. Ochils Mountain Rescue Team and an HM Coastguard helicopter assisted in her evacuation from the hill, and she was taken to hospital for treatment.

On Saturday, one woman required an airlift from Ben Cruachan following a serious fall. Later that day, another rescue was conducted for a man who had broken his ankle in a remote area on Stob Ghabhar.

A solo scrambler died after falling from the main face of Glyder Fach on 10 May. Mountain rescuers attended and assisted in recovering the casualty by helicopter. Team members also provided assistance at a fatal road collision on the A5 near Capel Curig while returning from the mountain rescue operation.

A 56-year-old woman from Gloucestershire was reported missing on 10 May 2025. Multiple local emergency services, including the Severn Area Rescue Association and Gloucestershire Constabulary, conducted a search operation that was initially unsuccessful. The woman was located safely on the afternoon of 11 May 2025.
Outcome: found safe
A casualty broke their ankle near Pillar on 7 May and was airlifted to hospital by HM Coastguard Helicopter. The call was initially received by Wasdale Mountain Rescue Team but transferred to Cockermouth Mountain Rescue Team after establishing the casualty was on their side of the boundary. The casualty was treated on scene and transported to Cumberland Infirmary.

A couple became cragfast (stranded on a crag) while descending Beinn Sgritheall on the Glenelg peninsula on the evening of 5 May. Glenelg Mountain Rescue Team and Kintail MRT located and safely escorted them down, standing down just before midnight.

Arrochar Mountain Rescue responded to a report of a sheep stranded on a cliffside near Loch Sloy hydro-electric dam for several days. The team located the animal, secured it with a harness, and lowered it safely by winch cable. The sheep was successfully reunited with its flock.

The association attended an old ferry slip near Aust last week following reports of someone being stuck in the mud. Fortunately, the individual was able to self-recover while lifeboat services were being launched.

A man injured his ankle while trekking in Alkrington Woods, Middleton, and was located by Oldham Mountain Rescue Team using Phone Find technology. He was assessed by paramedics and air ambulance medics, then carried by stretcher to an ambulance for transfer to hospital. The search involved fifteen team members and lasted 2.5 hours.

Dundonnell Mountain Rescue Team assisted an injured walker at Corrie Hallie Car Park who had sustained a lower leg injury. The casualty was assessed and treated at the scene, then transported back to the car park by team vehicle.

Members of the Arran Mountain Rescue Team were called out to a walker who had sustained a leg injury on the Stacach Ridge at Goatfell Mountain. The casualty was treated by the team and subsequently evacuated from the hill via an Argo vehicle.

Cockermouth Mountain Rescue Team responded to reports of a Herdwick sheep stranded on a rocky ledge above Honister Slate Mine in Cumbria. Rescuers used rock climbing techniques to access and secure the animal, then rappelled it safely to the ground. The sheep was given a health check and released unharmed.

East Cornwall Search and Rescue attended two incidents in the Minions area in early May. On 1 May, they assisted a sheep trapped on a ledge at Cheesewring Quarry; two days later, they rescued a woman with a suspected ankle fracture at Gold Diggings Quarry who was evacuated to hospital.

Llanberis Mountain Rescue Team received seven call-outs to Crib Goch on Yr Wyddfa in November involving young men under 24 who had underestimated the terrain and weather conditions. One incident in May involved a 24-year-old from London and friends who became stuck on the ridge during deteriorating weather; the casualty developed hypothermia whilst awaiting rescue and was successfully evacuated after nearly six hours.

An Edinburgh University medical student died after falling more than 500 feet on Snowdon in May whilst descending in severe weather conditions. Despite his father and sister turning back due to dangerous wind and rain, he chose to continue alone, became disorientated, and fell. An 18-hour search by over 35 rescuers located his body in Cwm Glas; the inquest recorded his death as accidental.

A walker sustained a leg injury from a fall at Aira Force waterfall during a family visit. Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team treated the casualty and stretchered them down to the car park, where they were handed over to their family. The casualty was taken to hospital.

Two walkers were rescued from Tryfan in Eryri over the weekend of 26–27 April. On Saturday, a walker fell and lost consciousness, sustaining suspected spinal injuries and requiring helicopter evacuation to hospital. On Sunday, another walker fell between boulders and suffered a suspected fractured forearm, being assisted down the mountain and then making their own way to hospital.

Brecon Mountain Rescue Team attended two separate callouts for injured casualties in late April and early May. On 24 April, they assisted Central Beacons MRT with a female casualty on Neuadd Ridge who was given pain relief and stretchered off the hill. On 4 May, they responded to an ankle injury in forestry near Resolven, with the casualty evacuated by stretcher to hospital.

A hillwalker died after becoming ill on a popular Scottish mountain. Rescue crews were mobilised to the scene.

A 10-year-old boy fell approximately 33 feet on Tryfan in Snowdonia on 20 April 2025, sustaining leg and hip injuries. He was airlifted to hospital by Coastguard helicopter with assistance from an Ogwen Valley Mountain Rescue Organisation trainee. The incident occurred during a period of elevated rescue activity on Tryfan, which accounted for a significant proportion of call-outs in the region that year.

Two walkers became lost on Tryfan while accompanied by a dachshund and a pug. Ogwen Valley Mountain Rescue Organisation located them using mobile phone GPS and safely brought all parties down the mountain, carrying the dogs in rucksacks.

A hiker slipped and sustained a suspected lower leg fracture on the Miners' Track on Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) on Good Friday 19 April. Mountain rescue teams from Llanberis and Aberglaslyn attended, splinted the casualty's leg, and carried them down by stretcher to waiting vehicles. A second callout for an injured walker on the Watkin Path was also reported, though that casualty was assisted down by friends.
