stranded walkers/scrambler group Snowdonia

Tryfan

A group of five students became stranded on Tryfan in deteriorating weather after attempting a scramble they were ill-prepared for. One separated from the group and was found on a roadside after several hours; the other four became crag-fast on the Eastern Traverse and were rescued by team members and Coastguard helicopter in an 11-hour operation.

Outcome: all five rescued safely; four by rope rescue and helicopter, one found on roadside; all brought to base for warming and debriefing

Support the team who responded. They turn out unpaid, in all weather — every team is a volunteer-run charity.
