Dovestones, near Saddleworth Moor

Two walkers at Dovestones near Saddleworth Moor required rescue on the evening of 21 December after one sustained a knee injury and became unable to continue. Both were found in cold, wet conditions near Birchen Clough and were rescued using ropes and a stretcher in a four-hour operation. The injured walker was transported by ambulance for further assessment.

Outcome: casualty evacuated by stretcher and ambulance, uninjured walker led to safety
