Coniston Old Man

Slip/Injury Lake District

A member of the public slipped while descending Coniston Old Man in the evening and sustained a leg injury. Following assessment at the scene, the casualty's leg was splinted before she was stretchered down to waiting vehicles.

Outcome: Transported from the fell to hospital

Saddlestone Quarries

Assistance/Medical Lake District

A small party responded to a request for assistance at Saddlestone Quarries on the evening of 4 June 2026. The vulnerable gentleman was given hot drinks and warm clothing before being safely escorted down to the base.

Outcome: Safe exit and hospital assessment

Grizedale Forest

Cycling accident/Injury Lake District

Mountain rescue was called out to a lady who had fallen from her mountain bike in Grizedale Forest on a wet and blustery morning. The casualty sustained injuries to her neck, upper arm, and shoulder before being handed over to the ambulance service.

Outcome: Transported from scene after receiving initial care

Claife Heights

Mobility Assistance/Rescue Lake District

A gentleman using an electric wheelchair became stuck while descending a rocky route at Claife Heights. Cumbria Police requested assistance, and volunteer team members successfully carried him uninjured down to the road.

Outcome: Uninjured, safely transported off the mountain

Old Man of Coniston

Slip/Injury Lake District

While descending the Old Man of Coniston, an individual slipped near Stubthwaite Crag and briefly lost consciousness. Following assessment by multiple medical professionals at the scene, the casualty was deemed to have made a full recovery apart from some localised bruising.

Outcome: Full recovery

Old Man of Coniston

Fall/Injury Lake District

A member of a family sustained injuries to both legs after slipping while descending the Old Man of Coniston on a warm, sunny day. Rescue personnel attended the scene, splinted the leg, and carried the individual down to the quarry before arranging transport to hospital.

Outcome: Transported to hospital

Claife Heights

Injury (Ankle) Lake District

A woman sustained an ankle injury after slipping on wet and slippery forest paths at Claife Heights. The rescue team assisted with stretcher carrying her down to a waiting land ambulance by Windermere lake.

Outcome: Transported safely to medical assistance

Claife Heights

Injury (Slipping) Lake District

A female runner sustained an injury to her leg after slipping during an organised trail race on a cool, dry day. Rescue personnel were called by Cumbria Police, who assisted with initial assessment and splinting before the casualty was transferred to a land ambulance.

Outcome: Transported from scene to land ambulance handover

Wetherlam Edge

Medical Emergency/Rescue Lake District

A man became seriously unwell while walking up Wetherlam Edge on a warm spring afternoon. Rescue services were called to assist with the extraction from the crag. The casualty was successfully winched off the edge by air support for transfer to hospital.

Outcome: Casualty safely transferred to hospital

Coniston village

Minor injury/Medical assessment Lake District

Mountain Rescue attended a local resident's garden following a slip, where she sustained a suspected head injury. After a full assessment, the lady was deemed stable enough to remain at home but was advised on when and how to seek further medical attention.

Outcome: No hospital required
