Animal Rescue Highlands

Volunteers from Glenelg were called out to assist with the recovery of a cow that became stuck in a peatbog near Glenelg. After an hour and a half of effort involving digging and careful pulling, the animal was successfully brought to safety.

Outcome: Successful rescue

Animal Rescue Highlands

Mountain Rescue volunteers were called out to assist with a cow that had become trapped in mud within a ditch. The team successfully used equipment and a harness to safely remove the animal.

Kinloch Hourn area

Search and recovery (deceased) Highlands Serious incident

Following the discovery of a missing walker's body in the water near Kinloch Hourn, extensive search efforts were conducted with assistance from air support and mountain rescue teams. The family has since launched a fundraiser to honour the professionalism shown by all the volunteer teams involved in the search operation.

Outcome: Body recovered after extensive search efforts

Fall/Injury Highlands

A walker sustained a serious head injury after falling down a mountain in the Northwest Highlands. Rescue teams were able to reach the casualty despite low cloud cover and successfully prepared them for airlift.

Outcome: Transported to hospital after rescue efforts

Five Sisters of Kintail

Fall/Injury Highlands

Mountain rescue teams were called out on Saturday afternoon following an incident near the summit of the Five Sisters of Kintail. A hillwalker sustained a serious head injury after falling down a steep section of rock. Following initial efforts hampered by low cloud cover, rescuers successfully stabilized and airlifted the injured person to hospital.

Outcome: Hospitalised
