A woman was injured on Dumyat Hill on 24 May 2026 and was rescued by Ochils Mountain Rescue Team around 12:30pm. She was stretchered off the hill and handed over to Scottish Ambulance Service for transport to hospital.

An experienced ice climber failed to return from an ascent of Orion on Ben Nevis in Scotland. He is presumed to have lost his life due to unpredictable weather and avalanches on the mountain.

Tweed Valley Mountain Rescue Team responded to three separate incidents on 18–19 October 2025: locating a missing person near Livingston in the early hours, assisting an injured mountain biker at Glentress trails at midday, and rescuing two walkers stranded on a remote ridge between Moffat Water and Ettrick valleys in the evening. All three callouts were resolved safely, marking the team's 48th, 49th and 50th operations of the year.

The remains of Thomas Robb, a farmer who went missing in August 2012 from the Carron Valley area, have been found in woodland near Fintry after 13 years. Mr Robb, aged 74 and living with dementia, had failed to return from a visit to Duncannon Fort. The death is not being treated as suspicious.

A woman sustained an injury after a fall on Dumyat Hill near Stirling on the evening of 14 May 2025. Ochils Mountain Rescue Team and an HM Coastguard helicopter assisted in her evacuation from the hill, and she was taken to hospital for treatment.

A hillwalker sustained an ankle injury while attempting to climb Dumyat near Menstrie. Ochils Mountain Rescue Team located the casualty near the summit and provided treatment before stretchering them down to a waiting ambulance.

A mountain biker suffered a suspected back injury in an accident at Hermitage Wood near Stirling. Ochils Mountain Rescue Team attended with ten volunteers, treated the casualty, and evacuated them by stretcher to a waiting ambulance for further treatment.

A 65-year-old hill-walker from Dingwall has been missing since 8 September 2024. His car was found at a car park near Beinn Alligin on 18 September, prompting a search by mountain rescue teams, RAF, police, and search dogs in the Torridon hills and nearby areas.
Ochils Mountain Rescue Team responded to a call in the Tillicoultry area of Ochil Hills on Sunday afternoon. Volunteers attended to a hiker who had sustained a serious leg injury before safely carrying them off the hill for ambulance transfer.
Outcome: Transported to hospital
A hillwalker fell a significant distance while walking on Dumyat on 16 June 2024 and became stranded in a gully. Emergency services, mountain rescue, and a BASICS Scotland doctor worked together to extract the casualty using technical rope rescue systems before they were winched aboard a coastguard helicopter and flown to hospital.

A 27-year-old woman sustained a significant fall in Alva Glen on 13 June 2023 and was rescued from a gorge using technical rope rescue systems. She was airlifted to hospital by HM Coastguard Rescue 199, whilst her companions walked off the hill uninjured.

A woman fell on a hill overlooking Alva Golf Course in the Ochils area and was unable to self-evacuate. Ochils Mountain Rescue Team, working with the Scottish Ambulance Service and Police Scotland, successfully retrieved and evacuated the casualty using a rope system to lower the stretcher down the rocky terrain. The rescue was completed within two hours with 17 team members in attendance.

The Ochils Mountain Rescue Team conducted their annual winter training over the weekend. Activities included practicing personal and rescue skills in a winter environment, with specific sessions held on Schoolhouse Ridge above Ballachulish and technical rescue drills in Glen Nevis.

A mountain biker fell over his handlebars whilst riding in the Ochil Hills in Stirlingshire and sustained multiple injuries including to his collar bones and ribs. He was airlifted by rescue helicopter to hospital. His companions provided a precise location and kept him warm until emergency services arrived.

A woman sustained a leg injury while hiking on the Ochil Hills in Clackmannanshire and was airlifted to hospital. Multiple emergency services including Ochils Mountain Rescue, Scottish Ambulance Service Special Operations Team, and Helimed 5 coordinated the rescue, carrying the casualty by stretcher to the helicopter.

A hill runner from Aberdour fell on West Lomond on Sunday morning, sustaining a broken leg, torn ligaments and an ankle injury. The Ochils Mountain Rescue Team and a coastguard helicopter attended, and the casualty was stretchered down and airlifted to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee.

Ochils Mountain Rescue Team responded to three separate incidents on Sunday during what began as a training day. The incidents included an injured walker on Dumyat who was stretcher-evacuated, a casualty who fell into a gorge near Cambusbarron who was airlifted to hospital, and a climber who fell in the Cambusbarron area and walked off the hill with assistance.

Mountain rescue teams were called out to assist with the rescue of a walker who had fallen in the Craigmead area of West Lomond. The injured individual was successfully moved off the hill using specialized equipment and subsequently transferred to hospital.

A paraglider suffered a serious open fracture to his left ankle after twisting his leg and falling into a gully while launching in the Lomond Hills in summer 2020. He was attended by Ochils Mountain Rescue and airlifted to hospital, where doctors successfully saved his foot. He has since recovered and is now considering joining the mountain rescue team.

A paraglider crashed near Stirling on Dumyat in the Ochil Hills. The Ochils Mountain Rescue Team and Ambulance Service responded to the scene, and a helicopter was used to airlift the individual to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow.

A 51-year-old woman from Alloa went missing on 1 March 2018 after becoming lost in the Ochils near Menstrie during blizzard conditions. Despite a major search and rescue operation involving police, coastguard and mountain rescue volunteers, her body was recovered the following afternoon near Dumyat Farm.

A 38-year-old man fell approximately 60 feet down a gorge at Dollar Glen while attempting to retrieve his dog that had slipped down an embankment. He sustained a dislocated shoulder and minor cuts and bruises, and was rescued by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and Ochils Mountain Rescue Team after approximately two hours. He was treated at Forth Valley Royal Hospital and made a quick recovery.

A 39-year-old climber fell and died on Bidean nam Bian in Glencoe on 8 March 2013. This was the 12th mountain death in Scotland that year, prompting public debate about mountain safety and rescue services.

A retired hill farmer with dementia, Tom Robb, disappeared on 25 August 2012 while walking in Carron Valley, Stirlingshire, despite extensive searches by mountain rescue teams, police dogs, and a helicopter. No trace of him has been found. A memorial trail race is being organised by his family to raise funds for Alzheimer's Scotland and Ochils Mountain Rescue.

A 26-year-old man missing for two days was found at the bottom of cliffs at Dumyat Hill in the Ochils after a passer-by heard his cries for help. He was airlifted to hospital with severe leg injuries and dehydration. He had left his home without money, bank cards or mobile phone.
