Penrith MRT

A walker sustained a suspected ankle injury whilst walking on The Hause at Cawdale. Penrith Mountain Rescue Team attended, assessed and treated the casualty, then transported them down the fell for handover to NHS ambulance.

A solo walker became disorientated on the open fell above Kershope Forest due to fatigue, heat and rough terrain. After initial phone contact, a small team was deployed to assist. The walker was provided with food and water, then accompanied off the fell and returned to his vehicle.

Outcome: walked off the fell with team assistance, returned to vehicle

A potentially hypothermic teenage wild camper was found by passing walkers on Whiteside above Keppel Cove. The casualty was able to walk off with assistance from the walkers and a Penrith MRT member who was nearby, and the team stood down before deploying.

A man sustained an ankle injury on Gowbarrow on 4 July and was stretchered off the hill by Penrith Mountain Rescue Team. He was transferred to hospital for further treatment.

A young man became exhausted and unable to continue walking along a footpath near the River Eden in Lazonby. He had called for help while experiencing distress, but subsequently made his own way back to the road and was collected by a friend before the team's assessment was complete.

Outcome: self-resolved, collected by friend

A 16-year-old male walker became exhausted due to heat whilst on Red Tarn and was unable to continue. Penrith Mountain Rescue Team provided phone support and reassurance to enable him to safely descend to Glenridding.

Outcome: casualty safely descended with remote support

A female walker was reported suffering from signs of heat exhaustion near Small Water on Mardale Head. The rescue team advised the casualty's party to keep her cool and remained on scene until support arrived. The casualty was subsequently transferred via coastguard helicopter to an ambulance at Mardale Head.

Outcome: Medical assistance provided; casualty transferred to ambulance.

Mountain rescue teams were called out to assist with a multi-day search for a missing person near Penton/Kershope Forest. After extensive searching involving numerous agencies and resources over several days, the individual was eventually located by a police dog on Tuesday afternoon.

Outcome: Missing person found alive

Patterdale MRT was conducting a search for a high-risk missing person and requested additional support from the LDSAMRA Silver coordination group. Wasdale MRT deployed five team members to assist with searching areas within their allocated patch.

Outcome: Search concluded successfully.

A climber was found by a passer-by after falling on the crags at Coombs Wood and sustaining severe injuries. Multiple agencies responded to the scene, including air ambulance support, to assess the casualty and safely extract them from the crag.

Outcome: Transported to hospital

The team was called out to assist a walker who had slipped on a steep muddy path at Ashgill Force. Following an assessment and splinting of the ankle, the casualty was safely carried by the team to an awaiting ambulance for hospital transport.

Outcome: Transported to hospital

A walker who fell near Motherby and was suffering from heat-related illness was assisted by the team working alongside an ambulance crew. The casualty was transported across a field on a stretcher and transferred to an ambulance for onward transport to hospital.
