A man sustained a fractured skull, ribs and pelvis after falling while hiking in the Mourne Mountains. He required rescue and evacuation for treatment of his serious injuries.

A woman suffered a nasty arm injury after a tumbling fall while descending Haystacks in the Lake District. Cockermouth Mountain Rescue Team treated her on the fell and arranged evacuation by Coastguard Rescue helicopter to hospital from Scarth Gap.

A woman fell on a hill overlooking Alva Golf Course in the Ochils area and was unable to self-evacuate. Ochils Mountain Rescue Team, working with the Scottish Ambulance Service and Police Scotland, successfully retrieved and evacuated the casualty using a rope system to lower the stretcher down the rocky terrain. The rescue was completed within two hours with 17 team members in attendance.

Noel Hanna, a highly accomplished Irish mountaineer, died at Camp 4 on Mount Annapurna on 17 April 2023 following a successful summit. He passed away overnight in his tent while descending; the cause of death has not been confirmed.

Two climbers became trapped on the eastern traverse of Tower Ridge, Ben Nevis, during heavy snow on the evening of 15 March 2023. Lochaber Mountain Rescue Team and search and rescue helicopter R151 conducted a challenging rescue operation in extreme weather conditions, successfully airlifting both casualties to safety by 2.30am.

A runner fell from an icy mountain ridge on the Isle of Arran, sustaining multiple injuries. Rescue crews were called to the location and airlifted the individual to hospital after initial treatment was provided by a winchman.

Two families walking on Moel Famau in north Wales called for help after being caught in poor weather with visibility reduced to 100 metres. North East Wales Search and Rescue deployed 4x4 vehicles to the hill. One family was assisted down by another walker whilst the other family descended safely on their own.

Nine men from Manchester were assisted off Helvellyn by Patterdale Mountain Rescue after becoming caught in blizzard conditions and deep snow. The group had set off late in the day without navigation equipment and got into difficulty after dark. All were safely evacuated with no injuries reported.

A walker strayed from the path on Yr Wyddfa in poor weather and became stranded on the east ridge. Llanberis Mountain Rescue Team located the casualty at 23:30 and, after warming measures including a special jacket, roped them to the summit and brought them to safety by 04:30.

A 57-year-old man went missing near Treorchy, Wales on 7 March 2023 and remained unaccounted for after 17 days. Central Beacons and Western Beacons Mountain Rescue Teams assisted South Wales Police in searching mountains, woodland and waterways during challenging conditions, though the organised search was stood down on 9 March.
A 20-year-old wild camper was rescued from the summit of Pen-y-Fan in the Brecon Beacons after encountering difficulties in adverse weather conditions during the early hours of 7 March 2023. Central Beacons and Brecon Mountain Rescue Teams responded, and the casualty was treated for hypothermia before being assisted off the hill and returned to family.

A 66-year-old hillwalker failed to return from a planned walk on Beinn an Lochain in Argyll and Bute on 26 February 2023. His body was found on the hill approximately three hours after the alarm was raised. There were no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.

An experienced mountain biker suffered serious injuries whilst on a night ride with friends in Barcaldine forest, Argyll and Bute. Oban Mountain Rescue Team attended and the casualty was assessed, packaged and stretchered to a waiting ambulance for transport to hospital. His injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.
