A 67-year-old hillwalker from Newcastle was reported missing on Sunday after failing to complete a three-day walk from Glenfinnan to Inverie on the Knoydart peninsula. He was found on Tuesday in a remote area south of Loch Morar after becoming lost, and was taken to hospital as a precaution but was otherwise uninjured.

A father fell from his climbing stance on Overhang Wall at Traprain Law in East Lothian, swinging into the rock and sustaining a head injury that knocked him unconscious along with other injuries. An ex-SAS soldier died after slipping from a ridge on Pillar mountain in the Lake District during the Bob Graham Round fell running challenge in August 2024. He was 20 hours into the 66-mile, 24-hour event when he fell in bad weather. Mountain rescue teams from Wasdale and Cockermouth located his body at Pillar Cove and the coroner recorded a verdict of accidental death.
