A walker sustained a serious head injury after falling in the Black Mountains and was rescued by Longtown Mountain Rescue Team with assistance from the Maritime and Coastguard Agency Helicopter. The casualty was stabilised at the scene, winched onto the helicopter, and transported to hospital.

Tweed Valley Mountain Rescue responded to two incidents on 22 October 2023: an injured cyclist at Glentress and an injured hillwalker on Allermuir Hill in the Pentlands. Both casualties were assisted by paramedics, with the hillwalker evacuated by stretcher from the steep terrain.
Outcome: both casualties transferred to ambulances; hillwalker evacuated by stretcher
allergic reaction with respiratory distress Snowdonia Serious incident
A teacher suffered a severe allergic reaction with breathing difficulties and swelling after eating food whilst hiking with students in Crimpiau, Eryri on 17 October. The teacher was airlifted to hospital by rescue helicopter. A separate incident on 19 October involved a young man who became exhausted whilst walking above Betws-y-Coed and was assisted off the hill by the team.

A body was recovered from the River Tweed near Kelso on 10 October 2023 by police officers assisted by the Border Search and Rescue Unit. Formal identification has taken place and police have determined there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.

Tweed Valley Mountain Rescue assisted in three separate incidents over two days in October 2023. These included locating an missing 82-year-old man near Whitburn after 60 hours outdoors, evacuating an injured mountain biker from Glentress Forest, and rescuing a teenager who had fallen from height on Blackford Hill in Edinburgh.

Flood/Landslide Rescue Highlands
The Oban Mountain Rescue Team was called out following multiple floods and landslides in the area, where they reported that everyone involved in an incident south of Ardfern were safe. Additionally, ten motorists were rescued by helicopter near Inveraray after becoming trapped between landslides.
Outcome: All reported persons were safe.

A 67-year-old walker sustained a lower leg injury on Suilven in Sutherland during poor conditions on Wednesday evening. Assynt Mountain Rescue Team attended with support from the Stornoway Coastguard helicopter and Scottish Ambulance Service, and the casualty was airlifted to hospital.

abandoned vehicle in river South West
An abandoned car was discovered in the River Avon near Offenham, Evesham, prompting a multi-agency emergency response. Crews from fire and rescue services, ambulance HART, police, and water rescue teams conducted an extensive search of the vehicle and surrounding area but found no casualties.
Outcome: no casualties found; incident resolved

A high-risk missing person was found safe and well in Cockermouth Town Centre following a 9.5-hour multi-agency search involving around 30 officers from West Cumbria Search and Rescue, Maryport Rescue, Cockermouth Mountain Rescue Team, and police dog units covering the Maryport and surrounding areas.
Outcome: missing person found safe and well

Outcome: The casualty was safely evacuated to Edale and transported for further care.

A 17-year-old girl fainted while completing a Duke of Edinburgh Award expedition at Laddow Rocks near Crowden on 13 September 2023. She was assisted by Glossop Mountain Rescue Team and evacuated by stretcher by Oldham Mountain Rescue Team to Dovestones sailing club, where she was assessed by a team doctor.

volunteer injury during call-out Lake District Serious incident
Chris Lewis, a Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team volunteer, died following life-changing injuries sustained in 2021 when he fell down a steep slope on Red Screes while responding to a call-out. Despite becoming wheelchair-bound, he remained an active inspiration to his team and community until his death in 2023.
Outcome: casualty became wheelchair-bound; died in 2023

A body was discovered in the Afon Conwy near Betws-y-Coed on Saturday afternoon, 9 September. Ogwen Valley Mountain Rescue, along with North Wales Police, fire service and paramedics, responded to recover the deceased person.
Outcome: body recovered and passed to Welsh Ambulance Services
Mountain biking accident Peak District
A mountain biker sustained multiple injuries while descending rough terrain near Jacobs Ladder. The casualty received treatment from a team paramedic before being carried down into the Edale valley to await transfer by land ambulance.
Outcome: Transported for hospital care
Injured Walker Peak District
The team responded to assist emergency services with transporting a casualty from the Waterswallows Quarry area. The operation took approximately two hours to complete.

missing person Scotland
A 56-year-old hillwalker went missing in Glencoe on Wednesday 6 September 2023 after leaving his home in Tillicoultry. Last contact was made with his family around 8pm on Thursday 7 September. Multiple mountain rescue teams, armed forces, and search and rescue dogs were deployed to search the Glen Etive and White Corries areas.

An elderly walker fell approximately 100 feet from a footpath near Sheffield Pike overlooking Ullswater, sustaining a serious head injury. He was winched aboard a Coastguard helicopter and airlifted to hospital, with the rescue operation involving 10 volunteers from Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team and taking just under four hours.

Chris Lewis, a 62-year-old volunteer with Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team, died of pneumonia on 3 September 2023, more than two years after suffering a serious fall while on a rescue callout. Lewis had fallen 150 metres on Red Screes in February 2021, sustaining spinal injuries and facial fractures that left him wheelchair-dependent, but he continued to contribute to the team as a trustee until his death.
Outcome: casualty airlifted to hospital; died of pneumonia 30 months later
Missing Person Search Peak District
A search dog and handler were requested to assist the Edale Mountain Rescue team in searching for a missing person on Sir William Hill. The individual was eventually located and reported to be safe and well.

Climbing accident/Fall Peak District
A climber sustained a head injury and lost consciousness after falling 6-8 metres near Ravenstor. A multi-agency effort was required to safely lower the casualty from the steep location into the valley.

A walker sustained a painful ankle injury at the top of Grindsbrook near Foxholes and was unable to descend on their own. Multiple team members attended the scene, requiring assistance from another local mountain rescue team to safely carry the casualty down through the area.

A 27-year-old man died after entering the river at Sgwd y Pannwr waterfall in Ystradfellte while attempting to rescue two children on Friday evening, 2 September 2023. His body was recovered the following morning by specialist divers from the cave rescue team.
