A female walker slipped on snow and sustained a serious ankle injury on Pen-y-Fan in the Brecon Beacons on 5 January. Central Beacons Mountain Rescue Team and Brecon Mountain Rescue Team attended, treated her with pain relief, and evacuated her by stretcher to an awaiting ambulance. The rescue teams used the incident to advise walkers on preparing for winter conditions in the mountains.
