Kinder MRT

Kinder Mountain Rescue Team responded to four separate incidents on 4 August within three hours across their operational area. The incidents involved a child with leg and facial injuries on the edge path north of Sandy Heys, a female with a knee injury near Alderley Edge, a male with a head injury near White Nancy, and a male with an ankle injury near Kinder Low. All casualties were treated and either walked off or were stretchered to safety, with support from Cheshire Search and Rescue and Buxton Mountain Rescue Team.

A 25-year-old male suffered a double fracture to his wrist whilst on the Sandy Heys path on Kinder Scout and was unable to continue walking. The team quickly deployed hill parties to locate and treat the casualty, administered pain relief, stabilised the injury, and evacuated him by stretcher to waiting vehicles for handover to East Midlands Ambulance Service.

Outcome: casualty evacuated by stretcher to EMAS

A 20-year-old walker fell on Kinder Scout near Kinder Downfall, sustaining a broken wrist and ankle. The team coordinated a complex multi-agency rescue involving Glossop MRT, North West Ambulance Service, and a coastguard helicopter that successfully winched the casualty to the aircraft for hospital transfer after approximately six hours.

At 2:30am on Sunday, police received a broken emergency call from walkers reporting they were lost on Kinder Scout near Kinder Falls in poor visibility and bad weather. A search was conducted up the main escape routes and along the tops, where the pair was located on the edge path north of the Downfall. Both walkers were warmed up and walked down to their vehicles uninjured.

A man fell and became injured in a remote, inaccessible area near Black Clough in the Peak District on Saturday evening. Over 50 rescue personnel from four mountain rescue teams, an air ambulance and a Coastguard helicopter worked for around seven hours to locate and evacuate him by stretcher carry due to unsafe conditions for helicopter winching.

Outcome: casualty carried off hill and transferred to land ambulance

A woman experiencing a significant medical emergency near the top of Sandy Heyes on Kinder Scout was assisted by Kinder Mountain Rescue Team and a Coastguard helicopter from Humberside. The casualty was assessed by the helicopter's paramedic and transported to hospital by air. Her party was escorted back to their vehicle in Hayfield.

The team was called out late in the evening regarding an overdue walker on Kinder Scout. A large search operation involving neighbouring teams and police resources was planned until a further report confirmed the missing person had safely found their way down.

Outcome: Person safe/Found

The team responded to an incident late on the evening to assist the North West Ambulance Service with the evacuation of an injured male near a canal. The casualty was successfully transported using the team's stretcher and wheel to the waiting ambulance.

Outcome: Casualty safely evacuated

The team was called out to a party of two reported lost on Kinder Scout just before their scheduled training session. Another group of walkers encountered the missing individuals and assisted them back to Edale, allowing the rescue team to track their safe return.

Outcome: Safe recovery/No injury reported

A fell runner encountered an elderly walker who had become too exhausted to continue on the top of Kinder Scout. After initial attempts to assist were unsuccessful, help was called for. The gentleman was subsequently carried by the team back to Edale Cross and handed over to the Ambulance service.

Outcome: Transported from scene to hospital for assessment

Outcome: The injured individual was assessed and able to continue walking after initial medical advice. The team successfully escorted both individuals down to Hayfield.

Mountain rescue teams were called out to assist with a multi-day search for a missing person near Penton/Kershope Forest. After extensive searching involving numerous agencies and resources over several days, the individual was eventually located by a police dog on Tuesday afternoon.

Outcome: Missing person found alive

The team responded to a request for assistance regarding a walker who sustained a knee injury on Kerridge Ridge. While ambulance crews located and treated the individual, they required support transporting the casualty from the ridge down to the waiting ambulance on the road below.

Outcome: Casualty safely transported from the ridge to an ambulance.

The team was called out following a report that a paraglider had been seen near Buxworth and there were concerns regarding the person's welfare. After an air search conducted by the Police, it was determined that no further assistance from the mountain rescue team was required.

Outcome: No action required

The team responded to a wild camper who had become unwell in the Cluther Rocks area of Kinder Scout on Saturday evening. Following an initial assessment at Moorgate, it was determined that assistance was required to safely bring the casualty off the hill.

Outcome: Casualty safely transported from the location.

A walker was reported to be suffering from breathing difficulties near Ashop Head steps on a Saturday afternoon. Following assessment by team members, the casualty required rapid evacuation and enhanced care, leading to a helicopter transfer to hospital.

Outcome: Transported by air for further medical treatment
